Meet the Piccolantonio’s What volunteer position(s) do you participate in at Plain City Elementary? We have both volunteered at Plain City Elementary in different ways over the years. Some of those ways include: Lunchroom Helper, Classroom Representative, Library Aide, PTO, COSI on Wheels, Field Day Volunteer, Walk-A-Thon, Field Trip Chaperone, and Kindergarten Registration. What prompted you to volunteer and what keeps you coming back? We initially began volunteering at the school because our girls loved seeing us there. We have since found that we enjoy helping out and being at the school just as much. What is your most fond volunteer memory in dealing with the students of PCES? Our favorite volunteer memories come from spending time in the lunchroom.  There we are able to interact with kids of all ages and not just the children in our girls' classrooms.  It is a very relaxed atmosphere making it a fun way to get better acquainted with the teachers...

What volunteer position(s) do you participate in at Plain City Elementary?     I have been a room representative each year for my child's class starting in kindergarten to current time. I read weekly with my child's class in first grade and currently reading with his class in second grade. Other things I have volunteered for are chaperon for Field Day, class outings, Library duty, Book Fair, COSI on Wheels and Walk-A-Thon. I also have helped my child's teachers by cutting items out for them that had been laminated and sharpening large bags of pencils for the class. What Volunteer opportunities do you do? Library, Lunch Room, COSI on Wheels, Book Fair, Dads Club What motivates you to volunteer in the school? It is great to be able to be a part of our daughter’s school day and see her interacting with her teachers and friends.  Besides, PCES is a fun place! Tell us about an experience you had while volunteering that made you realize you were making a difference? One day in the lunchroom, a group of kindergartners began excitedly talking to me all at once.  I couldn’t understand what they were saying because they were all talking at once, but it was obvious they were very happy and excited that there were adults there to help them out and interact with them! Have you seen an impact on your child because you volunteer in the school? She is always very excited to see us at school. What would you tell someone that is thinking about volunteering in the school? Try it – you’ll be glad you did!

1.    What volunteer opportunities do you do? I have been volunteering at PCE for the last 9 years.  At the beginning, I swore I wouldn’t be in charge of anything and would just be a “worker bee”.  I was uncomfortable going into something I didn’t quite know or understand.  So, I started out as the Market Day Co-Chair with a friend of mine.  It wasn’t long when the Vice President role was vacant and needed someone to help.  I was told this role wasn’t a big deal and I would only be helping the President when they couldn’t be there.  Then the President’s role was vacant and I felt like it was a natural fit for me.  My husband reminded me of what I said about being just a “worker bee” & not being in a lead role, but we both knew I had grown and become comfortable leading this great organization.  In addition to being a PTO officer, I have been a room representative or co-rep every year for at least one of my chil...

     1.) What volunteer opportunities do you do? I am currently a Lunchroom Helper and help run the McBride store.  For the McBride store, the second grade students in Mrs. McBride’s class earn money from completing their homework and good behavior to buy items from the store.  The store teaches the kids the value of money and addition.  I also help out with my daughter’s soccer team and with our church, which allows me to see many of the PCE students in different settings within our community.      2.) What motivates you to volunteer in the school? My wife was the one that urged me to start volunteering at the school to meet other parents and get to know my daughters’ classmates better.  By volunteering, I knew a small amount of time would make an impact in the teachers’ and students’ day.  Being able to spend time at school allows me to interact with the students, and get to know not only my daug...
