January 2016 Volunteer Spotlight —
Matt & Christi Piccolantonio
Meet the Piccolantonio’s
What volunteer position(s) do you
participate in at Plain City Elementary?
We have both volunteered at
Plain City Elementary in different ways over the years. Some of those ways
include: Lunchroom Helper, Classroom Representative, Library Aide, PTO, COSI on
Wheels, Field Day Volunteer, Walk-A-Thon, Field Trip Chaperone, and
Kindergarten Registration.
What prompted you to volunteer and what
keeps you coming back?
We initially began
volunteering at the school because our girls loved seeing us there. We have
since found that we enjoy helping out and being at the school just as much.
What is your most fond volunteer memory in
dealing with the students of PCES?
Our favorite volunteer
memories come from spending time in the lunchroom. There we are able to
interact with kids of all ages and not just the children in our girls'
classrooms. It is a very relaxed atmosphere making it a fun way to get
better acquainted with the teachers and students.
Can you describe a time when you knew your
efforts were making a difference for the teachers and/or children of PCES?
As
"Room Mom" for Mrs. Fuller's class this year, we recently planned and
organized the classroom Christmas party. It was very rewarding when we
saw many parents' posts on social media showing pictures from the party and the
wonderful comments about how much fun the party was. One parent even sent a
direct message thanking us for our efforts.
PS...
Kids LOVE chocolate fountain parties!
What
would you tell someone that is thinking about volunteering at PCES?
We would encourage anyone who
has considered donating time to volunteering at PCES to do so. The faculty and
staff greatly appreciate all parental support and the kids love seeing you at
school!
